CAP President
Welcome to an organization that proudly advocates for Principals, Vice/Assistant Principals, and school leaders across Canada. Since its founding in 1977, CAP has served as the national voice for school-based leaders, responding to the needs of educators who sought a united platform to address issues impacting Canadian schools and public education.
Over the years, we have remained dedicated to supporting school leaders through advocacy, professional learning opportunities, and partnerships with organizations that share our focus of strengthening publicly funded education for all students in Canada.
My name is Dean MacInnis, and I am honoured to serve as the 45th President of CAP. Our national board works collaboratively with affiliates across the country, with representation from British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Nunavut, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador.
At CAP, our objectives are guided by three key themes: Communication, Advocacy, and Presence. We bring these values to life through regular board meetings and ongoing communication with affiliates; by maintaining an active website that shares CAP events, publications, and resources; through strong partnerships with agencies committed to advancing public education; and through our CAP Journal—published three times a year—which highlights leadership development, educational research, and provincial/territorial initiatives from across Canada.
Looking ahead, we are excited to host our CAP National Conference in Regina, Saskatchewan, May 5–8, 2026. We look forward to welcoming school leaders from across the country for this important event.
