Fort Folly Medicine Walk
The Fort Folly Medicine Walk is an accessible, family-friendly 2.5-kilometre loop located within the Mi’kmaq community of Fort Folly near Dorchester, New Brunswick. Developed in partnership with the Fort Folly Habitat Recovery Program starting in 2007, the well-groomed forested trail is divided into three distinct thematic sections: Eagle, Bear (the core Medicine Trail), and Beaver (the Cultural Experiences Trail). The entire pathway serves as an interactive outdoor classroom designed to promote community wellness, environmental conservation, and the preservation of Traditional Knowledge.
The trail features detailed, trilingual interpretive panels written in English, French, and Mi’kmaw that showcase local medicinal flora and explain their traditional healing and ceremonial uses. Guided cultural walks introduce visitors to Mi’kmaw perspectives on food, health, and ecology.
Beyond teaching plant identification, these educational hikes share traditional stories and explain historical seasonal migrations, encouraging hikers to engage in “two-eyed seeing” by blending Western scientific observations with deep-rooted Indigenous wisdom.
Edith Cavell School
Edith Cavell School has a long and proud history of serving children and families in the downtown Moncton core. The original school building, constructed in the 1920s, was a fixture in the neighbourhood for decades before being destroyed by fire in the 1980s. This led to the construction of the current Edith Cavell School, which opened its doors in 1989. Today, the school continues that legacy while reflecting the changing and vibrant community that surrounds it.
Edith Cavell School is an exceptionally diverse K–5 school, with newcomers to Canada representing as much as 70% of our student population. Our students and families bring a rich variety of languages, cultures, experiences, and perspectives that contribute greatly to the character of our school community. Visitors touring our site, will experience a place where more than a century of educational excellence has taken place, connecting Edith Cavell School’s deep roots in the community with the diverse, inclusive, and dynamic school it is today.
Harrison Trimble High School
Harrison Trimble High School is a large, diverse, and vibrant school community in the heart of Moncton. With more than 1,600 students from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds, our hallways reflect a community that has changed dramatically in recent years. Through that growth and change, one thing has remained constant: Trimble is a school built on relationships, belonging, and a belief that every student can grow and be successful.
Visitors will experience a school that is busy, energetic, and unmistakably Trimble. Home to Atlantic Canada’s largest International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and recognized as a Solution Tree Model PLC at Work School, our culture is grounded in collaboration and collective responsibility for student learning. We focus on knowing where students are in their learning, recognizing academic growth over time, and responding when students need additional time, support, or challenge.
At HTHS, you will see our teachers using Real-Time Assessment (RTA) to gather evidence of quality learning through observations, conversations, and products. We use it to provide timely feedback, guide next instructional steps, deepen learning, and increase student ownership.
